The Muslim community of Ekiti East Local Government, Ekiti State, has commended Governor Oyebanji for appointing one of their own as the 2025 Amir Hajj of Ekiti State.
This commendation was made during a reception and thanksgiving ceremony held in honour of Barr. Tajudeen Olutope Ahmed at Ilasa Ekiti on Saturday, June 28, 2025.
The Chairman of the Ekiti East Local Government Muslim community, Mallam Isiaka Olusegun Owolabi, expressed visible happiness and stated that the community organized the reception ceremony to honor Barr. Ahmed, a worthy son of the local government who has distinguished himself in many ways. Notably, Barr. Ahmed is the first person from the local government to be appointed as Amir Hajj in Ekiti State. Mallam Owolabi commended Governor Oyebanji for the appointment, describing him as a rare gem who has discharged his duties creditably well.
The event was attended by several eminent personalities, including HRM Oba Ajayi Oluwasesan Omolagba, the Alasa of Ilasa Ekiti; HRM Oba Timothy Oluwagbohun, the Onikun of Ikun Oba Ekiti; and the Regents of Ayebode Ekiti, Esun Ekiti, and Okeako Ekiti. Other attendees included Alh. Shittu Bello Tiwonloju, Chairman of the APC Elders Forum in Ekiti East Local Government; Alh. Mudasiru Yusuf, NACOMYO State Coordinator, who led a powerful delegation of NACOMYO State Executive members; and Prof. Abdul Azeez Abdul Akeem Apempe, Special Assistant to the Governor of Ekiti State.
The highlight of the event was the unanimous adoption of Governor Oyebanji for a second term by the Ekiti East Local Government Muslim community, citing his good governance and welfare policies. Prayers were offered for the people and government of the state, and leaders were counseled to always conduct themselves with integrity.
