The Lawmaker representing Irepodun/Ifelodun constituency 1 in the Ekiti State House of Assembly Hon. Femi Akindele, did not only clear the patients’ bills at the General Adeyinka Adebayo Hospital, Iyin-Ekiti, Ekiti State, but also gave the patients cash gifts during his visit to the health facility.
The Lawmaker, who expressed his concern over the state of health of the people empathized with those who were in the hospital as a result of one sickness or the other, saying he was deeply touched by their state of health.
Hon. Akindele explained that he decided to embark on such visit to the hospital to make an impact on the lives of the less privileged ones, especially those who are in the sick bed in the hospital during this yuletide.
He used the occasion to appreciate God for giving him the opportunity to be their representative and emphasized that he was not doing it to earn any gratification from the beneficiaries.
“I considered it imperative to celebrate with this category of people in this yuletide season, I have a passion for them, besides giving food and beverages to the people who are hale and hearty, I chose to visit the hospital this time around unlike my usual way of celebrating Christmas”. Said the Lawmaker.
Most importantly, all the patients who benefited from the financial intervention of the lawmaker could not hide their joy and happiness as they received the cash gift from the lawmaker representing Irepodun/Ifelodun Constituuency 1 in the State House of Assembly for the second term.
Responding on behalf of other beneficiaries, a father of a new born baby, Mr Philemon Otta, commended Hon. Akindele for the good deeds since he has been elected as their representative in the State House of Assembly. He described the visit as timely and prayed for greater political future for the lawmaker.
Other patients whose hospital bills were settled by the Lawmaker expressed their joy and thanked the lawmaker for the intervention at this particular time of economic hardship in the country.
The resident doctor in the hospital, Dr. Oluwagbenga Omotosho, in his response said the gesture was unprecedented in the history of the hospital since over fifty years existence of Adeyinka Adebayo hospital.
He described Hon Akindele as a responsive and responsible lawmaker who always kept to his word.
