Ekiti Govt Trains 920 Newly Recruited Teachers In Public Secondary Schools

Speaking in Ado Ekiti while Flagging off a two-day induction training programme organized for the 920 newly appointed teachers of public secondary schools, the State Commissioner for Education, Dr Bimpe Aderiye, explained that the training programme was one of the series of similar programmes designed to enhance performance of teachers of public schools in spite of the limited financial resources of the State.

Aderiye who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Dr. Mrs Folakemi Olomojobi, reiterated the commitment of the present administration to the provision of a conducive teaching and learning environment in public schools in the State, assuring that no stone would be left unturned in the quest to revitalize, reposition and upgrade professional skills of teacher in the state for better service delivery.

She said Government would also continue to place high premium on teachers’ welfare packages such as Housing/Car Loans, regular and prompt payment of salaries and other personal emolument, capacity building including overseas training.

Aderiye urged participants to reciprocate Government’s gesture on them by participating actively and paying rapt attention to the facilitators, stressing the need for them to justify Government’s investment on them.

She also stressed the present Administration’s zero tolerance for poor attitude to work and acts of misconduct inimical to public interest, urging them to be of best behaviour.in his Address, the State Head of Service, Engineer Sunday Komolafe, advised the inductees to justify their appointment into the public service by leaving up to their responsibilities and supporting efforts of Government to develop the Education Sector.

Also speaking,  the Permanent Secretary, Teaching Service Commission, Mr. Michael Omolayo said that the focus of the training was to build  21st century modern age ICT teachers that are capable of helping learners to navigate successfully in the everchanging world in line with the human capital development agenda of the present administration.

He said that the calibre of teachers needed to drive education along technological pathways are not expected to be “brick and mortal” teachers but personate, diligent and tech savvy professionals.
