Ekiti Govt Presents Six Utility Vehicles To Local Governments Auditor General’s Office

Presenting the vehicles to the Auditor General for Local Governments and top management of the establishment in Ado-Ekiti, the State Commissioner for Local Government Affairs, Hon Folorunso Olabode,  explained that the development was to ensure transparency and accountability, stressing that effective audit of accounts would guarantee that revenues are received and spent according to laws and regulations.

According to him, the procurement of the vehicles was based on the commitment of Governor Biodun Oyebanji to the general wellbeing of workers and provision of a conducive working environment for optimal productivity.

Hon. Olabode noted that the vehicles were procured from members of Ekiti State Car Dealers Association as directed by Governor Oyebanji to support indigenous and local suppliers.

He said that the vehicles would be distributed to the Zonal Offices of Auditor General for Local Governments located in each of the three senatorial districts in the state.

The Commissioner urged the benefitting workers to reciprocate Government’s gesture by being diligent, trustworthy and reliable, stressing the importance of their functions as auditors to their

oversight function of holding Local Governments officials accountable for their use of public funds and maintain transparency.

Responding on behalf of the workers, the Auditor General for Local Governments, Dr. (Mrs.) Iyadunni Oke lauded Government’s efforts at creating a conducive environment for workers to be more engaged, productive and committed to their responsibilities.

Dr. Oke pledged the continued support for the Oyebanji administration’s efforts to ensure transparency and accountability in Government’s business.

Oke promised that her Office would continue to effectively monitor the finances of the Local Government in order to maintain transparency and accountability at the tier of Government.

Present at the event were top officials of government  including the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Local Government Affairs, Mr. Adedayo Ajobiewe and his counterpart in the Local Government Service Commission, Mrs Titilayo Toba-Ojo.
