Ekiti Govt Approves Recruitment of 1,800 Teaching, Non-Teaching Staff

The State Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, disclosed this in a statement in Ado Ekiti, explaining that the recruitment is part of ongoing efforts to address staffing gaps caused by resignations, retirements, and the “japa” syndrome.

He noted that about 170 teachers would be exiting the public service before the end of the year, stressing that a structured recruitment process was necessary to prevent staff shortages and their negative impact on education.

Providing details of the approval, Olatunbosun said the government would recruit 1,600 teaching staff, including 1,066 degree holders and 534 National Certificate of Education (NCE) holders. Additionally, 200 non-teaching staff positions have been approved.

He assured that the recruitment process would be strictly merit-based, with successful candidates deployed to 192 public secondary schools, particularly in remote and underserved areas.
