Ekiti CP, Eribo Commends Oyebanji’s Efforts As He Assures Residents of Adequate Security

By Ayodele Abere

The CP made the promise on Monday while playing host to journalists who paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the State Command, Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

Addressing newsmen, Eribo hinted that he has met with the governor who gave him an assurance of his full support in combating crimes and criminality in the State. “if that is the case, we have no reason to fail in performing our duty”. The CP declared.

According to him, others have been here and they have done so well, but there will always be room for improvement, and we definitely want to assure you that we would improve on what we met on ground by the grace of God. Eribo maintained.

“We are going to bring police closer to the door step of every citizen of Ekiti State. We are not going to be doing it alone, we have our sister agencies. We have to carry everybody along.

“Although, you know that the police is the lead agency when it comes to internal security. We will work closely with them. I have been meeting some of them to ensure that we flush out criminals from Ekiti State.

“We will be doing our own crime mapping. We have been told the flash points where these things are coming. We will dominate our environment and ensure that Ekiti citizens sleep with their two eyes closed. That’s the starting point.

“We know almost all of these issues we have in the society usually emanated from the youths.”

The CP therefore urged the youths to key into some of the initiatives put in place by the government to assist them as he advised them to shy away from criminality and join in the fight against crimes and corruption with the promise to show appreciation by thanking them.

Speaking on stemming the tide of missing persons which is gradually becoming a daily occurrence in the society, the Police Boss advised that any case of missing person should always be reported to the police saying they would do their best to track the person through various means of technology.

Regarding the influx of bandits from other states to Ekiti, the CP noted that there’s freedom of movement for Nigerians to move from one State to the other, he however pointed out that once anyone exceeds the law, the person will lose the protection of the law.

“If they come in and start perpetrating crime, they will be arrested and prosecuted for the crime they have committed.

“Not withstanding, we have our men at the boundaries with other states to check influx of criminals into the State and once they are caught, they won’t be spared as the law will definitely take its course, but for a good citizen as Nigerians, we are free to move to any part of the country without any hindrance”. Said the Police Boss.

Earlier, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists in the State, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi, in his remark stated that the media is a major stakeholder in the development of the society, and promised that journalists in the State would use their various platforms to project the activities of the police under the watch of the new CP as being done to his predecessors.

Babatuyi therefore solicited  reciprocation of same gesture from the Police and other sister agencies in the State.
