While addressing the Journalists, Ogundare said ever since he resumed duty in Ekiti, that he has had it in his plan to come and pay homage to the men of the pen Profession. Saying that, had it been he wasn’t a policeman, that journalism would have been his other option.

“Whether I am a policeman or not, this is my second constituency. That’s why I have come to greet you and to thank you for what you have been doing for the Nigeria Police in the State, showcasing their achievements and all that you have been doing for us.

“We have come to partner with you in the area of security. We as an organisation cannot do it alone. We need the stakeholders like the Press to assist us in propagating our success. I have never heard negative report from the Press in Ekiti State.

The CP told the Journalists that, he would like to know the area of weakness for them to improve on them for better performance.

Responding, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ekiti State Council, Comrade Rotimi Ojomoyela who first commended the CP and his entourage for the time they have taken to make the visit possible in spite of their busy schedules, made the CP to understand that there has always been good relationship between the Police and journalists in the State.

According to Ojomoyela, the Police in Ekiti have been doing well at combating crimes across the State.

However, the Chairman called the attention of the CP to some porous areas in the State such as; Oke-Ako, Ipao, Irele where there have been constant incidents of kidnapping. He also said that the activities of the herders,  drugs and menace by some members of the transport Union should be looked into including the notorious Atikankan area of Ado-Ekiti.

Speaking on the touts amongst the commercial drivers, “sometimes you just see them at the centre of the road without minding if there’s traffic or not. They don’t care, said Ojomoyela. Adding that he wanted it curtailed.

Ojomoyela, who assured the CP of the readiness of journalists in the State to work with him, equally urged that the office of the PPRO should be well equipped to enhance free flow of information dissemination and timely reactions to stories.

While he also advised on the need to have CCTV Camera installed at the Command to monitor the black spots in the State.
