The Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State for the June 20 election, Dr. Wole Oluyede, has challenged the incumbent, Governor Biodun Oyebanji, to a public debate on their respective plans for the people of Ekiti State.
Dr. Oluyede issued the challenge on Saturday during a strategic meeting with PDP members drawn from the 177 wards across the state, held in Ikere-Ekiti.
The candidate reiterated his commitment to prompt payment of gratuities, an affordable health scheme, and job creation if elected. He stated that he is ready to be questioned by Ekiti people on his agenda to make the state great.
Addressing party members, Dr. Oluyede urged them not to feel betrayed by his recent reconciliation efforts with various groups within the party. He charged them to return to their units and commence intensive mobilization for votes ahead of the June 20 poll.
Earlier, the Ekiti State PDP Chairman, Tunji Odeyemi, called on members to adopt an “Operation-Win-Your-Unit” strategy, noting that grassroots delivery would be critical to the party’s success at the polls.
In his remarks, party leader and former Senator, Duro Faseyi, described Dr. Oluyede’s recent victory in court as an affirmation that “God is behind his candidature,” and enjoined all members to rally round him.
Dignitaries at the meeting included the Director General of the Oluyede Campaign Council, Makanjuola Ogundipe; former Head of Service, Gbenga Faseluka; former Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Kola Oluwawole; and former lawmaker, Kehinde Odebunmi, among others.
