Oluwasanmi Adeyanju, a Special Adviser on Strategy and Communications to a ranking member of the National Assembly, Hon. Femi Bamisile, has reaffirmed his boss’ solid backing for the 2026 second term governorship ambition of the Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji.
Adeyanju stoutly denounced the insinuation linking Bamisile to 2026 governorship ambition, branding it as part of the antics of the adversaries to create unnecessary wedge and cleavages within the ranks of the All Progressives Congress.
He said Bamisile, who represents Ekiti South Federal Constituency II, has overtly put his governorship ambition on hold and backed Oyebanji for second term, owing to the governor’s impressive performance, humility and embracement of inclusivity by his administration.
On these grounds, the Lawmaker’s aide, urged the populace to discountenance the social media stunt being peddled by some unscrupulous elements linking his boss to an imaginary ambition to create division between the two high profile leaders of the APC.
Adeyanju made the clarifications, while responding to a social media post ascribed to a group under the auspices of Ekiti Grassroots support.
In the well circulated post, the group claimed that it has it on good authority that the Bamisile was surreptitiously plotting to botch Oyebanji’s second shot for the governorship seat by secretly nursing an ambition that could be counterproductive.
But in a statement denouncing the claim and made available to journalists in Ado Ekiti, on Saturday, Adeyanju, described the mission of the purveyors as not only divisive, but spurious and ill-intentioned.
He added that the sinister intention of the writer, whom he alleged hid under a phantom and faceless group was clear and lucid, which was to create political brickbatting between the two leaders.
Adeyanju urged those fanning the ember of acrimony just because of election to desist, saying it will be counterproductive for anyone to turn Ekiti into a huge rumour mill, just because of ambition.
Essentially, Bamisile’s aide, said those masquerading as politicians under the faceless group to stoke fire between cordial politicians should refrain from such invidious act.
“Our attention has been drawn to a social media post being peddled by a group called Ekiti Grassroots Support linking Hon Femi Bamisile, a respectable and staunch ally of our Governor, Biodun Oyebanji to an alleged governorship ambition.
“I want to say without equivocation and any iota of doubt that Hon Bamisile nurses no governorship ambition in 2026. He is solidly behind the second term ambition of His Excellency owing to the wider acceptability the governor savours.
“To debunk this and put the proponents to opprobrium, it was in the public glare that it was Hon Femi Bamisile that moved the motion for the endorsement of Governor Oyebanji for second term during a recent political programme organised by APC in Ekiti South Senatorial District.
“At a meeting held in the house of one of our leaders in 2024, Hon Bamisile was also blunt in his position that Oyebanji should take a second shot for the governorship seat. He didn’t just raise the issue , but he was vehement about it.
“Again, Hon Bamisile had championed a process of consultations and engagements to pacify the leaders of Ekiti South to shelve their ambitions till 2030, despite being a champion and highest financier of Ekiti South Agenda in 2022, which was strategically geared towards realising the governorship slot being allotted to the zone, having not produced a governor since 1999.
“We thank God that Governor Oyebanji and Bamisile are experienced politicians. They have been in the political turf since 1999. They understand the tactics, dynamics and intricacies. So, the proponents of this insalubrious message had failed woefully.
“Though these filthy individuals and known fifth columnists in APC don’t deserve our response, but these clarifications were deemed expedient and worthwhile in order for them not to confuse unsuspecting members of the public.
“On these premises, this odious and poignant message should be considered a trash and should be discountenaced accordingly”, Adeyanju told the public.
