The governorship candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) for the 2026 election in Ekiti State, Pastor Ojo Ayodeji Tope, popularly known as OAT, a native of Ikere -Ekiti, has unveiled a six-point agenda aimed at repositioning the state for sustainable growth, shared prosperity, and social justice.
Presenting his manifesto to residents, the candidate stated that his vision is to rebuild Ekiti with compassion, tackle insecurity head-on and foster prosperity for all.
OAT explained that his administration would prioritize healthcare by introducing free services for women and children in government hospitals.
According to him, antenatal, delivery, and postnatal care would be provided at no cost, alongside free healthcare for children aged 0 to 12 years.
He also proposed a maternity support initiative that would provide essential baby items and a financial stipend for six months following safe delivery.
The candidate pledged to upgrade all Primary Healthcare Centres across the 16 local government areas, recruit and train additional nurses including midwives, and deploy mobile clinics to rural communities.
State hospitals, he added, would be equipped with modern diagnostic facilities and specialist maternal and pediatric units to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates.
On infrastructure, the ADP candidate promised extensive road construction and rehabilitation, including farm-to-market roads to boost agricultural productivity and enhance inter-community connectivity.
He also outlined plans to expand access to clean water, rehabilitate boreholes, improve sanitation, and partner with private investors to deliver mini-grid and solar power solutions for rural electrification.
Addressing insecurity, OAT stated that his administration would strengthen security agencies with modern equipment, patrol vehicles, and improved welfare packages for personnel.
He proposed establishing a State Security Trust Fund, deploying surveillance systems in major towns, and creating a central command-and-control centre. He also pledged to regulate and empower community-based security outfits.
In the area of economic development, he emphasized agriculture as the backbone of Ekiti’s economy, promising land allocation across all local government areas, subsidized farm inputs, mechanized equipment leasing schemes, and low-interest loans for farmers.
He further proposed the establishment of agro-processing centres and storage facilities to reduce post-harvest losses, as well as youth-focused agribusiness initiatives to drive employment.
The candidate also pledged to implement youth and women empowerment programmes, including skills acquisition centres, startup grants, ICT hubs, and cooperative support schemes.
Senior citizens aged 70 and above would receive a proposed monthly allowance, along with access to healthcare coverage.
He additionally promised to improve public school infrastructure, recruit qualified teachers, introduce digital learning tools, and strengthen tertiary institutions.
Assuring residents of responsible leadership, Ojo stated that his administration would operate with transparency, accountability, and zero tolerance for corruption.
