EDO KILLINGS: I’ll pay full compensation to families of victims – Gov. Okpebholo

During a condolence visit to Torankawa in Bunkure Local Government Area, Governor Okpebholo, alongside Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other dignitaries, pledged cash and food donations to support the bereaved families.

Lamenting the tragic killings, an angry Okpebholo vowed that the perpetrators would face justice.

“We will ensure that justice is served on those responsible for this heinous act,” he declared.

Protests Demand Justice

In response to the killings, hundreds of family members and supporters took to the streets in a peaceful protest, carrying placards with messages such as:

“We demand justice for the killings of our people.”

“Hunters are not criminals.”

“Speedy justice is needed.”

Many hunters, armed with their traditional weapons, joined the demonstration as protesters blocked the road leading to Torankawa village. Some chanted war songs, while others urged authorities to end violence in the North and ensure justice prevails.

Despite tensions, local leaders maintained order, ensuring a peaceful demonstration as the governor’s convoy passed through the area.
