The Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja has affirmed Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the duly elected governor in the September 21 election.
In a unanimous ruling on Wednesday, the three-member panel led by Justice Wilfred Kpochi dismissed the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Asuerime Ighodalo.
The tribunal held that the petitioners failed to substantiate their allegations of over-voting and affirmed that Okpebholo secured the highest number of valid votes.
Additionally, the tribunal criticised the petitioners’ approach in presenting their evidence, stating that it was insufficient to support their claims.
