Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has condemned the killing of travelers by a mob in Uromi, Esan North-East LGA.
Represented by the Chief Security Officer (CSO), SP Solomon Osaghale, the governor described the act as barbaric and unacceptable, vowing that those responsible would face justice.
Osaghale, who visited Uromi to assess the situation, revealed that the victims were traveling in a commercial truck when local security members discovered firearms during a search, leading to the deadly mob attack.
Stressing that no one has the right to take the law into their hands, he assured that four suspects have already been arrested, and a full-scale police investigation has been ordered.
Security forces have been deployed to restore peace, and Hausa community leader, Mallam Aliyu Haruna, expressed gratitude to the governor for the swift intervention.
He reassured that Uromi has historically been peaceful for Northerners, with many living there for over 70 years.
