DSS Arrests Two Ex-Operatives for Impersonation, Fraud

In a statement issued on Wednesday, the DSS said the duo, who had earlier been dismissed from the Service, were involved in “unscrupulous activities” and had continued to impersonate DSS personnel despite repeated public warnings.

“The Service has further resolved to publish the names of other personnel, who were dismissed in the past, to prevent citizens from falling victim to possible criminal intent of any of these individuals,” the statement read.

According to the DSS, both suspects had been previously listed in public disclaimers cautioning members of the public against engaging with them. Their recent arrest follows heightened efforts by the agency to curb impersonation and fraud involving former staff members.

The Service confirmed that the suspects will be prosecuted in accordance with the law, stressing that similar actions will be taken against any dismissed personnel found using its name for illegal activities.

The DSS also reiterated its commitment to professional conduct and accountability, assuring Nigerians that it will not hesitate to expose and prosecute any individuals, past or present, who attempt to exploit the agency’s identity for personal gain.
