The Department of State Services (DSS) has apprehended a 32-year-old man, Sylvester Victor Augustus, for allegedly creating a fake recruitment notice on a cloned version of the agency’s website.
The suspect, who hails from Abak Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State, was arrested on Thursday at his residence on Akpan Eno Lane in Abak by DSS operatives.
According to a source, Augustus, a self-identified graduate of the University of Uyo (UNIUYO) and a content creator, reportedly cloned the DSS website to post a fraudulent recruitment notice, aiming to deceive unsuspecting members of the public.
The DSS had earlier dismissed the recruitment notice as false, urging Nigerians to disregard the post and remain vigilant against such scams.
The suspect is expected to be arraigned in court soon.
