A former Senior Legislative Assistant in the National Assembly, Hon Adesola Gold Adedayo, has commended Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s preparedness to wipe joblessness, poverty and gender inequality out of the state.
The All Progressives Congress chieftain, specifically lauded the Governor for empowering a female commercial motorcyclist, Tola Adeleye, with tricycle popularly called “Keke Marwa”, to sustain her means of livelihood.
Governor Oyebanji, in Ado Ekiti, presented the lady with a tricycle to propel her transport business.
The Governor, had earlier had an encounter with the commercial tricyclist at Omisanjana in the state capital, while monitoring a link road to Ajebamidele, along Ado-Ikere road.
Reacting to the gesture, in a statement, Adedayo posited that the Governor’s action further accentuated how committed the current administration is to gender equality in Ekiti.
Adedayo added that the Governor’s kindness substantiated that he has a glowing spirit towards empowering jobless youths to reduce incidences of poverty, restiveness, and all forms of insecurity in the state.
He saluted the Governor’s spirit for breaking every protocol and acted spontaneously to meeting the lady’s demand in an attempt to transform her life and make her relevant economically.
The Governor further stated that “This was one feature that would linger in the hearts of the good people of our dear state, especially the women folk, who thought they were being sidelined in the scheme of things.
“What the Governor just demonstrated was the fact that every gender is relevant to the survival and success of his administration.
“He believes that all Ekitis have the potentials to make a headway in any job if well supported by government and other right- thinking members of the society.
“Most interesting aspect of the whole episode was the fact that the governor made the donation barely 18 hours after he had an encounter with the female commercial motorcyclist.
“This is the spirit all Ekiti indigenes , especially those in positions of authorities must operate with. They shouldn’t make accessibility difficult for the common people to entrench the culture of participatory democracy in our dear state”.
Adedayo, appealed to the beneficiary to reciprocate the gesture and work hard to build her life and take it beyond the state she is currently to spur other members of the society to emulate the governor’s generosity and kindness.
