U.S. President-elect Donald Trump announced late Sunday that he will be reappointing Tom Homan, a former Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director known for his hardline stance on immigration, to oversee border security in his upcoming administration.
In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump stated, “I am pleased to announce that Former ICE Director and strong advocate for Border Control, Tom Homan, will be joining the Trump Administration as our Nation’s Border Czar.”
Trump emphasized Homan’s extensive experience, saying, “I’ve known Tom for a long time, and there is nobody better at policing and controlling our Borders.”
According to Trump, Homan will be responsible for overseeing all deportations of undocumented immigrants, ensuring their return to their countries of origin.
The 78-year-old Republican has pledged to launch — on day one of his presidency — the largest deportation operation of undocumented immigrants in US history.
He repeatedly railed against irregular immigrants during his campaign, employing violent rhetoric about those who “poison the blood” of the United States.
