Death of ex-Western Region First Lady, Modupe Adebayo, Painful – Says Group

The Club described the sudden passing of the matriarch of the late former governor of the Old Western Region and respectable elderstatesman, Major General Robert Adeyinka Adebayo, as painful and sad.

Madam Modupe Adebayo died on Saturday, at the age of 85.

The day marked the eight year of the demise of her husband and late retired military officer, Adeyinka Adebayo, who held the traditional title of Aro of Iyin Ekiti during his lifetime.

A statement signed by the Club’s Chairman, Abayomi Ogundipe and made available to journalists, on Sunday, said the late Mrs Adebayo was a generous and strong community leader during her time.

Ogundipe stated that the entire family should be consoled by the good deeds of their late matriarch, particularly her services to God and humanity, which were rated as exemplary in all spheres.

“We mourn the passing of the Former 1st Lady Western Region of Nigeria, Matriarch of the Adebayo family of Iyin Ekiti and wife of elder statesman, Late Major General Robert Adeyinka Adebayo

“This day fortuitously marked the 8th year since we lost our Patriarch and father. May her soul rest in eternal peace”.

Ogundipe commiserated with Adebayo’s family, especially Chief (Mrs) Adejoke Chwukwuma, Yeye Oba of iyin Ekiti kingdom and Grand Matron of Unifier’s Club.

He said the Club identifies with the family at this trying moment and shares from their grief.
