Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, widow of former Ondo State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, has credited her survival from breast cancer to eliminating starchy foods from her diet.
Marking World Cancer Day, she revealed that since her diagnosis 27 years ago, she has avoided eba, amala, akpu, pounded yam, and sugary drinks, opting for vegetables, smoothies, green tea, beans, fish, and chicken.
She emphasized that early detection, medical care at UCH Ibadan, and a positive mindset were key to her recovery.
As founder of the Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN), she continues to advocate for awareness and support.
