Customs Records Over 573,000 Applications for 3,927 Vacancies

The recruitment portal, which was open for just one week, attracted a significant number of job seekers from across the country.

Last week, the Minister of Finance, Olawale Edun, disclosed that the Federal Government had approved the recruitment of 3,927 officers to fill critical gaps in the NCS and enhance trade facilitation.

Providing an update after the application deadline, the NCS National Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Maiwada, revealed that the positions attracted applications for various categories, including support staff and general duty officers. He described the process as thorough and seamless.

Breaking down the numbers, Maiwada stated:

General Duty (Superintendent Cadre): 249,218 applications.

Support Staff (Superintendent Cadre with HNDs/University Degrees): 27,722 applications.

Inspector Cadre (General Duty with NCE/National Diploma): 115,634 applications.

Support Staff (Inspector Cadre): 12,952 applications.

Customs Assistants (General Duty with Secondary School Certificates): 153,593 applications.

Support Staff (Customs Assistants): 14,400 applications.

The overwhelming response highlights the high demand for employment opportunities within the NCS. Maiwada assured the public that the recruitment process would be conducted transparently to ensure that only qualified candidates are selected for the available roles.
