Council Boss Approves N20,000 Monthly Palliatives For All Workers

Speaking during a Thanksgiving and Staff Recognition ceremony held at the council secretariat on Thursday, Hamzat expressed gratitude to the staff for their unwavering support, which contributed to the council’s achievements in recent years.

He announced several new initiatives to motivate staff and foster growth within the local government. Among these is the official presentation of a new staff bus to alleviate transportation challenges and reduce expenses.

“In addition to the new bus, every staff member will receive a monthly palliative of N20,000 for the next three months, with the possibility of an extension. This underscores our commitment to staff welfare and our H.E.E.D.S. Agenda for a greater Ifako-Ijaiye,” Hamzat said.

The council chairman also rewarded the revenue generation team with N5 million as an incentive for achieving a significant improvement in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) by the end of 2024. This was in fulfillment of his earlier promise to recognize their efforts if revenue targets were met.

In further recognition of staff dedication, Hamzat presented outstanding employees with cash rewards, washing machines, and other valuable items worth millions of naira. Four exceptional staff members were each gifted a washing machine and N50,000 in cash.

The Chairman of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Ifako-Ijaiye branch, Folorunso David, commended Hamzat for his visionary leadership, describing him as a transformative leader who has elevated the council to new heights.

David also highlighted additional incentives awarded to top-performing staff, including N100,000 each for the best cleaner, security personnel, and five other staff members, including area officers from Iju and Ogba. Excellence awards were also presented to key officials, including Council Manager Alhaji Akeem Adesanya, for their staff-friendly policies and support throughout 2024.

In his remarks, Adesanya praised Ifako-Ijaiye as a benchmark for excellence in local government administration. He noted that while the council was once avoided by staff due to its challenges, it has now become a preferred posting location, thanks to the achievements of the executive chairman.

“This transformation is a testament to the remarkable progress made under the leadership of Mr. Usman Akanbi Hamzat,” Adesanya added.

The event served as a platform to celebrate the achievements of the council and reaffirm the commitment to staff welfare and development in Ifako-Ijaiye.
