The Vice-Chancellor of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology (BOUESTI), Ikere-Ekiti, Professor Andrew Babatunde Omojola, has described the commencement of postgraduate studies as a significant milestone in the growth and development of the institution.

Professor Omojola made the remarks on Friday while addressing the National Universities Commission (NUC) team during the opening ceremony of the resource verification exercise for proposed programmes of the College of Postgraduate Studies. The event was held at the Wole Olanipekun Senate Building of the university.
“Postgraduate studies reflect our commitment to advancing scholarship, promoting cutting-edge research, and producing highly skilled graduates who can contribute meaningfully to national and global development,” the Vice-Chancellor stated.
He noted that the university had taken deliberate steps to ensure adequate human and material resources are in place ahead of the exercise. “We have assembled a team of qualified academic staff, developed relevant curricula, and provided essential facilities to support effective teaching, learning, and research,” he said.

Welcoming the NUC delegation, Professor Omojola commended the Commission’s commitment to maintaining and enhancing the quality of university education in Nigeria. “We are confident that the programmes presented for verification meet the required standards. We remain open to observations and recommendations that will further strengthen our capacity to deliver quality postgraduate education,” he added.
Leader of the NUC Accreditation Team, Professor Anthony Adejumo, said the verification exercise is a partnership aimed at ensuring the success of the proposed programmes. “We are here to support the university and ensure it produces competitive graduates who can contribute to national development and compete globally,” he explained.
Professor Adejumo acknowledged the strength of human resources in the region, describing Ekiti State as a “creator of professors.” He stated that the team would assess the university’s infrastructure and provide guidance as it navigates this new milestone.
Also speaking, Professor Akinsola Agagu expressed confidence in a smooth exercise, citing the facilities already in place.
In an interview, Provost of the College of Postgraduate Studies, Professor Adekunle Adegun, said the essence of the verification was to confirm the university’s readiness. “The NUC team is here to review our documents, inspect our infrastructure, and assess our level of preparedness. We are well prepared and our facilities are ready for inspection,” he affirmed.
