A ranking member of the House of Representatives, Hon Femi Bamisile, has advised Nigerians to show more patriotic zeal and valour in coalescing efforts with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to defeat those sabotaging the security and economy of the country.
The lawmaker representing Ekiti South Federal Constituency II, described economic and security sabotage as twin evils destroying the country and inflicting pains of poverty and wanton killings on the citizens’ collective psyche.
Bamisile, a former Ekiti Assembly Speaker, said this in his congratulatory message released to journalists, on Wednesday, on the occasion of the New Year Celebration.
The Federal Lawmaker applauded President Tinubu for raising the fight against insurgents, kidnappers and bandits for farmers to return to farms and for Nigerians to take up other relevant investments, saying this has manifested in the gradual slump in the prices of food commodities that were hitherto beyond the reach of the poor.
Bamisile also hailed the President’s efforts to fight those he described as “oil cartels” and brought to life the Warri and Port Harcourt Refineries after being moribund for over 30 years.
“It has been an established fact that Nigerians have become paranoid that nothing good can’t happen in Nigeria. But President Tinubu is gradually bringing a paradigm shift by fighting those holding the country down and sabotaging the economy.
“In 2024 alone, Nigerian Military killed over 10,000 insurgents with over 25,000 of them arrested and being detained due to actions taken by this government.
“In the creek of Nigeria Delta. Nigeria is losing over 700,000 barrels of crude oil to oil thieves daily. But today, this has reduced drastically. Nigeria is now making over three million barrels of crude oil daily. This corroborated the fact that this government is working.
“Our farmers in the North and Southern parts of this country are now returning to their farmlands with heavy and terrific dislodgement of bandits in the forests.
“These are great news that should spur Nigerians to be more patriotic to join the APC led federal government to fight the saboteurs for more revenue earnings, reduction of poverty and for attainment of food security status”.
Bamisile specifically appreciated his constituents in Gbonyin/Ekiti East/Emure Federal Constituency for their support in 2024, appealing to them to sustain such backing for Governor Biodun Oyebanji to deliver more on his six points agenda to the populace.
The Federal lawmaker assured that he will continue to make sacrifices and devise ways to reduce poverty in the constituency through constant engagements, inclusiveness in decision taking, empowerment for the youth and other age groups, educational support, and infrastructure provision that will reduce poverty and wanton neglect within their ranks.
“On behalf of my family, I congratulate my constituents and the good people of Ekiti State on this new year. I am confident that it shall be a year of consolidation and all round emancipation for all of us, in terms of delivery of democratic dividends to the citizens at both state and federal levels”.
