Awujale Adetona’s Legacy Will Never Be Forgotten – Oyebanji

Oba Adetona, one of Nigeria’s longest-reigning traditional rulers, passed on Sunday at the age of 91 after 65 years on the throne.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Yinka Oyebode, Governor Oyebanji said the late monarch’s life was marked by dignity, humility, and a strong commitment to the welfare of his people.

“Oba Adetona embodied royalty, class, and honour, yet remained deeply humble in his daily engagements. His reign brought immense value to the preservation of culture and the development of his people,” the Governor said.

He described the late monarch as a model traditional ruler whose leadership inspired growth and community development, while also providing wise counsel to those in government on responsible and compassionate service.

Oyebanji noted that the monarch’s death was a double tragedy for the nation, coming just hours after the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

He prayed for the peaceful repose of the late Oba’s soul and strength for his family, the people of Ijebuland, and the government of Ogun State to bear the great loss.

“On behalf of the Government and people of Ekiti State, I extend heartfelt condolences to the Adetona family, the Government of Ogun State, and the entire Ijebu people. May Kabiyesi find eternal rest and may his memory continue to inspire generations,” Oyebanji said.
