APC Screens Oyebanji, Others Ahead of Ekiti Governorship Primary

The session, which lasted about 15 minutes, was held at Amor Hotel in Katampe, Abuja, under the supervision of the party’s screening committee chaired by Tunji Olawuyi.

Four aspirants are expected to be screened between Tuesday and Wednesday. They include Oyebanji, Kayode Ojo, Abimbola Olawunmi and Atinuke Oluremi.

Speaking with journalists after his appearance, Oyebanji, who is seeking re-election, expressed confidence in the party’s ability to conduct a transparent and credible primary.

“I call on the APC national leadership to provide a level playing field for all aspirants who scale through the screening process. This will enable us to present our manifestos to members ahead of the October 27 exercise,” he said.

The governor, accompanied by National Assembly members and party leaders including Senators Olubunmi Adetunmbi, Yemi Adaramodu, Cyril Fasuyi, and Speaker of the Ekiti House of Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye, said he was fully prepared for the contest.

He added that whoever emerges from the process must be supported, stressing that the overall goal is to return the APC to power in the state and serve the people.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed the Ekiti governorship election for July 20, 2026.
