Anambra: YPP Candidate Hails INEC, Police Over Peaceful Election

Chukwuma made the remark after casting his vote at Ward 14, Umuleri II, Polling Unit 004, in Umuleri community, Anambra East Local Government Area, around 12:40 p.m. on Saturday.

He lauded the electoral body for ensuring an early start and smooth coordination of the voting process, describing the exercise as peaceful and well-organised.

“The election commenced on time. Materials arrived on time. I commend INEC. It shows that INEC is fully part of this process,” Chukwuma said while addressing journalists.

According to him, the visible presence and professional conduct of security operatives helped to maintain order and prevent disruptions at various polling centres.

“I must commend the hierarchy of the police. Everywhere we observed, the exercise has been largely hitch-free from the point of view of the security agencies,” he added.

Chukwuma, who secured the YPP governorship ticket in April 2025 with 366 ‘yes’ votes during the party’s primary, reiterated his commitment to advancing policies that would strengthen local security, support small and medium-sized enterprises, and align Anambra’s economy with the Federal Government’s development agenda.

The YPP candidate also urged voters to remain peaceful and law-abiding as the election progressed across the 21 local government areas of the state.
