The Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has been a highly sought after and one of the most desirable Institutions that candidates seeking admission into Nigerian Polytechnics always target for optimum training, monitoring and certifications despite the increasing number of tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

This revelation was made by the Rector of the Institution, Dr. Temitope John Alake, during the matriculation ceremony for the 2022/2023 academic session, held at the main campus in Ado-Ekiti, the State capital.

The Rector, attributed this to the national recognition of the high standards, peaceful co-existence , relatively stable academic calendar of the Polytechnic as well as the prime attention paid to students’ welfare.

Engr. Alake said the Polytechnic, has consistently been in the forefront of prominent, enviable, reliable, desirable and peaceful Federal Tertiary Institutions in the country, capable of delivering optimum academic proficiency in all spheres to the students and other knowledge seekers across the world.

According to the Rector, this assertion is incontrovertibly premised on and evidenced in the quality of graduates the Polytechnic has produced since inception and the values been able to add to the Nigeria society and the world at large.

The 7th substantive Rector of the Institution who stated that matriculation is one of the yardsticks for measuring the development and sustenance of an Institution noted that an Institution that doesn’t have candidates for admission can be best described as dead. Adding that the occasion further expressed the indisputable fact that the Polytechnic is thriving.

“As I speak to you, the Institution runs a total of thirty – five accredited courses across the various Schools (Faculties). We are poised to push for the accreditation of more programmes by  the grace of God.

“Despite all pressures from all interested candidates and Parents/Guardians, we were able to painstakingly follow all the required selection processes to admit the few number of students that are being matriculated.

“I consider those of you here privileged to be offered admission having been successful in the mandatory Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), and the online screening conducted by the Institution.

“It is my prayer that the Almighty God will grant you the required knowledge, understanding and wisdom as you begin this long and rewarding though challenging journey in your career development”. Alake prayed.

Dr. Temitope Alake, said the Institution is not relenting and will not relent in arduously pursuing academic excellence which has continued to be our watchword and focus in line with the Institution’s stated vision. Adding that the core values of his administration which shall be thoroughly and vigorously pursued is encoded “DISECT”  which means: Discipline, Integrity, Sacrifice, Excellence, Creativity and Teamwork.

While the Polytechnic prides itself in the efficiency and effectiveness of its manpower, especially in the delivery of lecturers, you also need to prepare yourself to be imparted with requisite knowledge and skills by the lecturers. The Rector advised.
