Aiyegunle-Ekiti Expresses Worries Over Monarch’s High-Handedness    … as Monarch debunks allegations

By Our Reporter

The appeal was made on Monday at the Secretariat of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ekiti State Council, Ado-Ekiti, where the President and Secretary of the forum,  Messrs Ade Ajayi and Segun Akinola came to address the press.

In their address, they said the people of Aiyegunle-Ekiti have been suffering silently under his iron hand and that the monarch is not ready for peace in any form as alleged.

Calling on the peace-loving people in the State to wade in and caution the monarch for peace, the forum under its leadership, noted that any ruler that leaves the legacy of tyranny would have his name written in history books, and that same applies to the one that is glorious and benevolent with wisdom.

The monarch was equally alleged to have remained defiant of government’s instruction saying he usually sparks rancorous episodes.

“Right now, the High Chiefs are under his mercy. Twice, they have been imprisoned in the Correctional Centre for months after lying against them that they were involved in armed robbery, attempted murder and thuggery.

However, the forum stated that the people of Aiyegunle-Ekiti have remained calm that the government making the peace moves would bring the situation under control  which according to the forum have not yielded any solution.

“After maltreating people in his house, he would demand that they should pay bail of N20,000, and if they decline, he would report them to law enforcers. With fears, they would be forced to pay the inflicted fine. Rather than pursuing moves that might bring peace, he has continued his bare faced braggadocio of being the Oba and that everybody must bow to him.

“He is not God as he always expects to be worshipped. How can Oba oppose prays or even night vigils in a town being troubled? The forum queried.

“He even arrested the pastor in charge of the vigil and made him to kneel down in the sun for almost six hours, after which he imposed a bail of N20,000. An Oba supposed to invite prayer warriors to pray for his domain.

“Even his so-called Olori without provocation allegedly slapped one of the youths at a wake keep which she did with the backing of the Oba.

While promising to leave no stone unturned to ensure the community enjoys peace and harmony, the forum therefore appealled to the monarch’s sensibility to change the roughshod behaviour against the people who pronounced him as the Oba.

When contacted to clarify all the allegations levelled against Oba Johnson Aderiye, the monarch who has been on the throne for almost twenty-seven years now debunked all the allegations as he described the people who made the allegations as his enemies.

The monarch added that the leadership of the forum are the people that are not relevant in the community, going round to cook unnecessary lies.
