The Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, now AIG Akinwale Adeniran mni, has advised the next person to succeed him as CP in the State to come with vision and mission.
The new AIG gave the advice over the weekend while speaking with journalists during the Ekiti State Police Command Thanksgiving/End of the year party, held at the Police Headquarters.
Noting that there’s no short cut to success than working hard, AIG Adeniran urged whoever that would succeed him in the State to be ready to make sacrifice saying it’s not easy to be a Police Officer.
According to him, “when people are sleeping, you have to be awake. If you are sleeping, criminals will take advantage. They will come out and rob”. Said the AIG.
Speaking on the significance of the event, the Police Boss explained that the programme was organised to celebrate success, the people’s cooperation and harmony that exist between Police and other stakeholders in the State.
In his word, “it was turbulent when I came to the State but with the support of people, and my officers and men, we were able to reduce crimes to a bearest minimal. That’s why you can see that throughout this festive period and after, the State will be in peace.
“It’s because of the cooperation of the people. We gain their confidence and they also have confidence in us by giving information. Any crime commited, the perpetrator will be arrested. We are not the one doing it alone.
“It’s because people are working with us and I believe that’s what we are celebrating today, and to celebrate my officers and men for working hard because I have to please them to work hard, they move along with me and they are able to work harder”. Adeniran affirmed.
In his remark, the State governor, His Excellency, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, ably represented by the Special Adviser on Security Matters, Brigadier-General Ebenezer Ogundana (Rtd), said AIG Adeniran came and changed the perception of people about Police saying his open door policy has really assisted Ekiti in terms of security.
The Governor noted that the synergies being enjoyed in the State with other security agencies has taken Ekiti to where it is today.
Oyebanji therefore thanked everyone who graced the occasion for finding time to come and celebrate with the Nigerian Police Force under the leadership of AIG Akinwale Adeniran.
Also, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ekiti State Council, Comrade Kayode Babatuyi, who commended the AIG for making Ekiti people to truly understand that “Police are our friends” assured that Ekiti NUJ would bring him back to the State for celebration as he said that, he deserves to be celebrated.
Highlight of the occasion which attracted dignitaries from all walks of life was presentation of certificates to the deserving officers.
