Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has announced his departure from the Peoples Democratic Party, ending a longstanding relationship with the platform that produced him as senator and later governor.
Adeleke made the decision public in a post on his official X handle late Monday, where he also shared a copy of his resignation letter dated November 4, 2025. The letter, addressed to the Chairman of Ward 2, Sagba Abogunde in Ede North Local Government, confirmed his immediate withdrawal from the party.

In the letter, the governor blamed his exit on the protracted turmoil within the PDP’s national leadership, saying the crisis had made his continued membership untenable.
Adeleke expressed appreciation to the party for the roles it played in his political rise, noting that the PDP provided the platform on which he served as Senator for Osun West between 2017 and 2019 and eventually emerged governor.
Although the ward chairman acknowledged receipt of the resignation on November 4, the governor did not reveal his next political move or the party he intends to join following his departure.
