Ekiti Lawmaker, Hon Okieimen Gives succour To Constituents       … empowers indigents, vulnerable individuals

The  programme which was organised to commemorate the Yuletide celebration took place at Oniye of Iye palace square in Iye Ekiti, had in attendance the Indigents, Vulnerable, Youths, All Prgressive party Local Government Chairman, Ward Chairmen, Party leaders, Party loyalists and  Traditional Rulers across Ilejemeje Local Government.

Hon. Okieimen in her address at the occasion thanked God for His benevolent upon her life and the lives of the people of her Constituency, she admonished them for given her their mandate in the last election to represent them in the State House of Assembly and as well acknowledged the support received from all and sundry adding that she will continue to interface with all categories of people in the Constituency regularly.

The empowerment programme organised by the lawmaker was the first of its kind in the recent times and were in different categories ranging from free eye-test and  distribution of eye glasses, free medical test, empowering the Indigents and interfacing with the stakeholders in Ilejemeje Constituency.

The former Commissioner for Environment and a one time Secretary to the Local Government, said  she knew the importance of grassroot development and will not hesitate to give succour to the people noting that untiring efforts of the amiable Governor of Ekiti State Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji need to be complemented by the lawmakers in their various Constituency.

Hon. Okieimen, said equipment  worth about Three million Naira had been expended on the procurement of Sewing and Grinding machines, Food items, including Cash gifts  to the Indigents, Vulnerable and Youths in the area, adding that “she would always make herself accessible to the people of the Constituency as she said the gesture was just a tip of an iceberg though, we were not given Constituency allowance but the seventh Assembly has made as part of their obligations to carrying out Constituency engagement”

Over one hundred and fifty people were given free eye-test, drugs and glasses, twelve people collected Sewing machines, fifteen people got grinding machines, five people were recommended for surgical operation which to be performed later at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti, Food items such as 100 packs of Indomie Noodles, 30 bags of Rice were distributed across the ten wards in the Local Government while cash gift of over two hundred and fifty thousand were given to vulnerable.

The stakeholders at the occasion in their goodwill messages, the Chairman, All Progressive Congress in Ilejemeje Local Government Mr Bode Oladipo, his predecessor Gbenga Durojaye, Hon. Samson Oguntoyinbo among others eulogised Hon. Okieimen for the gesture and charged her not to rest on her oars. 

Some of the beneficiaries, Omoyajowo Kemisola, Awe Rotimi from Ewu Ward and Mrs Olubunmi Daramola from Ijesamodu Ward, speaking on behalf of the Women leaders and  other beneficiaries expressed happiness and appreciated the Lawmaker for given them such magnitude items at the period when the people are battling with hardship that emanated from the removal of fuel subsidy.

The traditional rulers in attendance at the occasion were Oba Julius Awolola, the Eleda of Eda Oniyo, Oba Micheal Omiyale, Onipere of Ipere, Oba Olufemi Daramola, the Onijesamodu of Ijesamodu, Oba Joshua Ogunbiyi, Onijaro of Ijaro Ekiti and His Royal Majesty, Oba Jonathan Agboola Adeleye-Oni,  Oniye of Iye Ekiti who spoke on behalf of other Kabiesi’s applauded Hon. Iyabo Okieimen for the intervention and for honouring the traditional institution in the Local Government. He  pledged their support for her with prayer for her success in her political journey.
