The President disclosed this after receiving updates on the incident, which occurred near Sagamu in Ogun State. The accident left Joshua injured and currently receiving medical attention, while two foreign nationals lost their lives, throwing the sports community and the nation into mourning.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu said he called Joshua to express his condolences and wish him a speedy recovery. He said Joshua assured him that he was responding well to treatment and was receiving the best possible care in the hospital.

Tinubu also said he spoke with Joshua’s mother and prayed with her, noting that she appreciated the gesture. He added that he equally contacted Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, who was at the hospital with Joshua, and received assurance that everything possible was being done to ensure proper medical attention.

Earlier, the President had described the accident as unfortunate, saying it cast a deep shadow on the season. In a message shared on his official X account, Tinubu extended sympathy to Joshua and his family, prayed for his quick recovery, and asked God to grant eternal rest to the souls of those who died in the tragic incident.
