President Bola Tinubu has left Lagos for Europe on a short end-of-year break ahead of an official engagement in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where he is expected to attend a major global sustainability forum in early January.
During the trip, the President will participate in the 2026 edition of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week Summit, following an invitation from the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

In a statement issued by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the summit is a weeklong event that convenes global leaders from government, business and civil society to deliberate on strategies for advancing sustainable development worldwide.
This year’s summit will be held under the theme, “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” with discussions expected to centre on linking innovation, finance and human capital to drive inclusive and sustainable growth.
After completing his participation in the summit, President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria.
The foreign trip follows the President’s recent arrival in Lagos, where he went to spend the end-of-year holidays after official visits to Borno and Bauchi states.
