A former presidential candidate, Gbenga Hashim, has blasted the APC-led government, saying US airstrikes on Islamic State (IS) elements in Nigeria expose deep security failures.
Hashim claimed the Tinubu administration’s persistent governance failures enabled extremist groups to thrive, especially in the North-West, where IS is consolidating influence.

The political jugunot stressed that external interventions like US strikes offer temporary relief, but lasting solutions require internal reforms, improved governance, and decisive leadership.
He warns Nigeria’s situation is “dire” without urgent action, citing deepening poverty, weakened institutions, and compromised politics (e.g., 2015 power struggles) as fuel for extremism.
“The situation in the North-West is dire. Without urgent internal reforms, external military interventions won’t produce sustainable results,” he stated.
