The Chairperson of Oyo State Netball Association, Ambassador Romoke Ayinde lauded the Sports Minister, Senator John Enoh on his inspection of the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium and for his promise to embark on a total renovation and upgrading the edifice with state-of-the-art facilities.
Amb Ayinde, who was on hand with staff of the Ministry of Sports to receive the minister during his inspection of the stadium while speaking with newsmen said, it’s a good thing the minister came to see things by himself and this will go a long way in helping restore it back to its past glory.
“The inspection carried out by the Sports Minister is a welcome development because it would let the power that be in sports circle know the dilapidated condition of Obafemi Awolowo stadium and what should be done on time to restore it.
“By history, the stadium which is the first in Africa, has produced many athletes that have won laurels for Nigeria and by bringing it back to his former state, it will surely lure our Youths from social vices back to sporting champions for the nation,” Amb Ayinde, whose company, Kayrom Lee Gym and Fitness Center is a principal partner with the Ministry of Youths and Sports Development, South/West zone one, on grassroots sports development in the last 14 years, said.
Speaking further, Amb Ayinde said if the stadium is restored back to its former state, apart from helping the youths to engage in worthwhile sports activities, it will also create an enabling environment for business to thrive for business owners around the stadium.
