Nigeria’s fuel supply outlook received a major boost as Dangote Refinery announced plans to begin delivering 1.5 billion litres of Premium Motor Spirit monthly from December 2025, a volume that translates to about 50 million litres a day.
The refinery confirmed the development in a letter dated November 30, 2025, and signed by its Chief Executive Officer, David Bird. The company added that the supply level would increase to 1.7 billion litres per month — roughly 57 million litres daily — from February 2026.

To build market confidence and ensure full transparency, the refinery asked the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority to station officials at the facility from December 1 to verify and publicise its daily production and stock levels.
The management also appealed for support to fast-track the clearance of crude oil, feedstocks and blending components, warning that delays in vessel handling were slowing operations and pushing up costs for consumers.
In the letter, Bird reaffirmed the company’s readiness to meet domestic demand. He explained that having regulators onsite and making the refinery’s production figures public would help Nigerians track daily supply and understand the true state of the market.
He emphasised that the refinery needed unhindered access to crude imports and smooth vessel movements to sustain production targets. According to him, the delays currently experienced were not only affecting refinery operations but also increasing costs passed down to customers.
The announcement comes at a time the downstream sector continues to struggle with supply gaps and reliance on imported fuel. The Federal Government has repeatedly said boosting local refining capacity remains central to stabilising the market and reducing import pressure.
Dangote Refinery’s supply plan aligns with this national objective, with the company urging authorities to allow the “Nigeria First” fuel policy to work in the interest of consumers across the country.
