Newly-elected members of the Inter-Party Advisory Council,IPAC, Ekiti State Chapter, have been implored to discharge their duties with a view to deepening Nigeria’s democracy.
A member of the Electoral Committee from IPAC’s National Headquarters,Abuja, Mr Dipo Olayoku,gave the admonition at the election and swearing-in of the members at the Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC’s, Headquarters,Ado-Ekiti,Ekiti State.
Mr Olayoku who is also a member of the New Nigeria People’s Party,NNPP,described IPAC “as a platform that provides opportunity for all political parties in Nigeria to share opinions, rub minds and put heads together as a way of sustaining and deepening our democracy. And we believe that in every set up, there must be a leadership,and that is why the IPAC constitution recognizes leadership at both the national and state levels. And as a way of deepening democracy,we always organize this type of election. This implies you seek and receive the consent of the people you want to lead”.
The elected executive members include,Mr Owoola Dararmola of Young Progressives Party,YPP, as Chairman,who scored thirteen votes out of thirteen voters,Chief Samuel Abiola of Accord,Deputy Chairman,Mr Yinka Dada of New Nigeria People’s Party,NNPP,Secretary,Deacon Anifowose Joseph of Action Alliance, AA ,Organizing Secretary, Engr. Aanu Akindahunsi of the People’s Redemption Party,PRP,Teasurer and Chief Femi Eponlalaye,Action Democratic Party, ADP, Public Relations Officer,PRO.
In his acceptance speech,the Chairman,Mr Owoola Daramola,said the day was a watershed in the history of politics in Ekiti State,pledging to discharge his responsibilities to the attainment of the objectives of IPAC in the State. He advocated participatory and all-inclusive governance to engender healthy democratic growth of the country.”As stakeholders in the Ekiti project,even though we all belong to different political parties,I intend to galvanize us all,to help the government to rebuilding the State”.
He enjoined his colleagues to co-operate with him to to steer the ship of IPAC to appropriate destination.
