NGO Harps On Giving To Less Privileged In Nigeria

The Enablers Diaspora Grassroots Support Outreach, a Non Governmental Organisation (NGO), has urged Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of giving to the less privileged to alleviate their suffering.

The President of the NGO worldwide, Mrs Ayoyinka Wilson, made the appeal during a free medical outreach to mark the 5th year anniversary of the organisation at Methodist primary school in Ekiti State.

Wilson said the major objective of the organisation was to help less privilege individuals in the society.

She explained that the 2023 medical outreach is an annual event that the organisation usually carry out in five days which Oyo, Osun and Ekiti would be benefiting from this year’s edition.

“We are in Aaye-Ekiti for our 2023 free medical outreach to mark our 5th year anniversary of the organisation, this year’s programmes, are going to hold in three states, namely Oyo,Osun and Ekiti.

“On Monday, we’re in Osun state and currently we are in Aaye-Ekiti  for free medical outreach.

” Our NGO is an organisation that caters for the less privileged Nigerians, we carry out community give away to vulnerable ones, the poorest of the poor.

“We give out foodstuffs, household needs including new clothes, shoes and bags,” she said.

Mrs Wilson, who is a nurse and midwife, said free check up of blood pressure, sugar level are being carried out on adults, youths of the community.

She explained that anybody with diseases such as diabetes and hypertension, medications that would last for three months are being given to them.

” Our target was to take care of 2,000 beneficiaries , currently we have been able to diagnose, treat and attend to more than 1000 persons.

“It is not only person with diabetes, hypertension that we treat and give medication to, we are treating all participants and giving them multivitamin , paracetamol and other drugs.

“Aside drugs, we are giving food stuffs and household essentials to them,” she said.

The NGO president urged Nigerians to join hands with the organisation to alleviate the sufferings of less privileged Nigerians especially at the rural communities.

She said members of the organisation in United Kingdom (UK), South Africa, United States of America (USA) have been supporting the NGO but members in Nigeria chapter are the ones facilitating the current medical outreach in Nigeria.

Wilson, however assured Nigerians that by 2024 when the NGO would be celebrating it’s 6th year anniversary, the free medical outreach would be elaborate.

Similarly, the Secretary of the NGO, Mr Kayode Oyediran, said as part of the free medical outreach programme, 150 pupils of Methodist Nursery and Primary school were given toothbrush, tooth paste and indomie.

Oyediran explained that the pupils were educated on oral hygiene while the young and adolescent ones were given sanitary pads.

“For the 5th year anniversary celebration of our organisation, we decided to bring the free medical outreach programme to Aaye -Ekiti, to give free health care to both young and old ones in the community.

“Pupils of the Methodist primary school where the outreach is currently taking place were captured to take home tooth paste, brush and indomie,” he said 

The secretary of the NGO thanked the Alaye of Aaye-Ekiti, his traditional chiefs and Indigenes of the community for the hospitality and enabling environment.

Reacting, Alaye of Aaye-Ekiti, Oba Ojo Idowu thanked the president of the NGO, Mrs Wilson for her initiative to bring free medical care to his people and communities.

He prayed that God would continue to protect every members of the organisation as they travelled to other states to administer free health care.

Residents and Indigenes of neighbouring towns such as 

Ifisin, Odo-Ora, Igbole and Orin-Ekiti all came to benefit from the free medical outreach programme.
