Operation Of Ekiti State Public Secondary School Mass Transit Scheme

The Ekiti State Governor, His Excellency Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji has again approved the immediate commencement of the Public Secondary School Mass Transits Scheme which will be at no cost to the Public Secondary School Students.

The Director of Press in the Office of the State Head of Service, Mr Femi Bamisaye, says the Permanent Secretary of the General Administration Department (GAD), Mr. James Owolabi made this known in a release in Ado–Ekiti.

Owolabi stated that the Public Luxurious Secondary Schools Mass Transit Bus operation was to mitigate the effect of the high cost of transportation on Civil Servants and Parents of Public Secondary School Students as occasioned by the removal of subsidy on Petrol by the Federal Government.

He stressed that the operation of the scheme will start on Monday, 18th September, with the Public Secondary Students (JSS1 to SSS3) as earlier promised by the Governor that Students will start to benefit during the resumption from the long vacation. 

The statement added that the Civil Servant Mass Transit scheme will continue as scheduled on their already established routes.

He emphasized that Public Secondary School Students should always appear in their School Uniforms to enable them enjoy the scheme. The Programme will be in operation between the hours of 6.30 am to 8.00 am and 2.00 pm to 4.00 pm daily within Ado Ekiti Metropolis.

He identified the operation of routes and Bus tops of the Student’s Mass transits to be: 

Route 1 From Atlas Motel; Mobil; Ajilosun; Ijigbo; Old garage Okesa; Fajuyi; Adebayo; Housing; Afao Road; Oke Ila: Old Garage; Okesa; to Fajuyi

Route 2 From Poly Road; Erifun; Ureje; Odo Ado; Mathew Street; Old Garage;  Okesa; Fajuyi; Pavilion; NTA Road; Ilawe Road; Irona; Ijigbo; Old Garage; Okesa; Fajuyi.
