EFON DAY 2023 CELEBRATION: Senate Leader, Bamidele, King Sunny Ade, Others To Be Honoured

All roads lead to the ancient Kingdom of Efon Alaaye in Ekiti State on Saturday, 26th August, 2023 for the Grand finale of the 2023 Efon Day Celebration, where about ten top notch Nigerians are billed for honour, including Senate Leader of the 10th Assembly, Dr. Michael Opeyemi Bamidele and ace juju musician, King Sunny Ade.

A statement issued in Ado Ekiti by the Chairman of the Efon Alaaye Day 2023 Media Sub-Committee, Prince Sunday Adeyemi-Adejolu  indicated that all necessary arrangements that would help facilitate success of the week long 2023 Efon Day Celebrations have been put in place by the Central Planning Committee headed by Panaf Olajide Olakanmi, a Lawyer and Businessman. 

According to the Press Statement, the week long event will commence on Monday, 21st August, 2023 with Traditional Prayers and Cultural Activities to demonstrate the oneness, love, peace, unity and development in the community.

Day 2 of the celebration is on Tuesday, 22nd August, 2023; tagged Local Government activities day where Commissioning of Projects and other Community development initiatives by the Efon Local Government Council will be done.

Wednesday, 24th August is devoted to Sports and Recreation with visits to Tourists Attraction points in the annointed community as well as the final of the Efon Unity Cup Football Competition, which will be decided at the Ekiti State Government College pitch as from 3.00pm 

The statement added that Thursday, 24th August, 2023; has been set for the annual Efon Salvation Day Prayers (Ojo Idupe Igbala Efon) under the auspices of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Efon Alaaye Chapter with the Thanksgiving and Praise Worship Service holding at Erekesan  Palace Square between the hours of 7:00am and 10:00am. 

Also, on that Day 4, an event tagged Charity Program organised by the Efon-Alaaye Community living in United Kingdom (UK) and Europe holds by 12:00noon, while by 3.00pm of the same Thursday, a Free Medical Outreach programme will hold at some designated centres across the Hills City of Efon Alaaye.

Day 5, Friday, 25th August, 2023, there will be a Jumat Service at the Central Mosque by 1:00pm after which Youth and Students under the auspices of Efon Youth League have planned series of activities that will commence by 3:00pm of the same day, with a Symposium titled Efon Alaaye Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow to be addressed by top notch Speakers as well as Social Night/Beauty Pageant Competition will take place. 

For the Grand Finale of Efon Alaaye Day 2023 Celebration, the Media Sub -Committee Chairman disclosed that the event will feature; 

Unveiling of the official website of Efon Alaaye Kingdom, Parades and Traditional Homages to His Majesty Oba Emmanuel Adesanya ALADEJARE, Agunsoye II,  the Obalufon Alaayemore, Alaaye of Efon Kingdom, a Special Exhortation and Counseling for a good life to be delivered by Chief Ifayemi Elebuibon, thereafter, bestowal of Honours and Awards to some of the outstanding Efon Alaaye citizens and three other Eminent Nigerians. 

The High point of the Grand finale events, according to the Press Statement is the Fund Raising Launching of the first tranche of the One Billion Naira Efon Alaaye Strategic Development Fund.

The week long events will thereafter be rounded off on Sunday, 27th August, 2023 with a Thanksgiving Service at a designated Church, in the community, to be attended by the Efon Alaaye Traditional Council, the leadership of the Efon Alaaye Development League as well as all the Sons and Daughters of the Kingdom to appreciate God Almighty for the success of the week long events. 

In a related development, the Secretary General of Efon Alaaye Development League, Mr Afolabi Ige, who doubles as the Secretary of the Central Planning Committee assured that adequate preparations  for a successful 2023 Efon Alaaye Day celebration have been made to receive the Eminent Personalities from different parts of  Nigeria and beyond at the ancient Kingdom of Efon-Alaaye, in Ekiti State.
