The Chairman of Ekiti State Football Association (EKSFA), Chief Olu Oloworemo has lamented over the poor performances of the state’s football team, Ekiti United in their previous matches.
The Chairman, expressed his displeasure during a Media Parley when he engaged members of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) in the State.
He noted that the team has not been performing to the expectations of fans, despite his personal and affiliated funding.
In his words, “Ekiti United has become an embarrassment.
“I have been spending my money on the team for years but I can categorically tell you that I support them with cash whenever they win matches both home and away, apart from all my friends that I engaged spending money on the team so that they can perform well.
“So, if they continue like this, they can’t get to anywhere.”
He therefore called on the administration of Governor Biodun Oyebanji to set up a Board to monitor the team so that they can be recording victories as required of them.
“If the government means business, they have to set up a board for the team that will monitor them to ascertain victory.”
Speaking on the development of football in the state, he said his administration will develop underaged football competition in order to train talented young players and make them relevant in the football world.has lamented over the poor performances of the state’s football team, Ekiti United in their previous matches.
