By Oluwatosin David

In less than 24 hours to the gubernatorial election of Osun State, the President of WOMEN ARISE FOR CHANGE INITIATIVE,:Dr Joe Okei Odumakin, said the group has employed, trained and would be deploying several of its observers in the 30 Local Government Areas of the State to observe the governorship election in which candidates from not less than seventeen political parties would be participating.

The Human Rights Activist made this known at a Press conference held at the Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Osogbo, Osun State.

According to Odumakin, “as we look forward to the election, we cannot but alert Nigerians of the fact that the act of voter Inducement and vote buying is gaining ground in our elections.

“We are therefore, using this medium to urge Osun State Voters to reject any form of Inducement by politicians but should rather engage the Governorship candidates based on issues that care about and only vote for parties and candidates who have a clear agenda for the development of Osun State”. Said Odumakin.

While commending INEC for its commitment towards ensuring that the election is conducted in a free, fair and credible manner, the President noted that, the deployment of personnel and sensitive electoral materials so far, was assuring of the Commission’s readiness to deliver on time.

Dr. Odumakin also said that the group was impressed by the conduct of security agencies who are involved in the processes of the election. Saying they do hope that, they would improve on their professionalism and uncompromising stand throughout the election.

“We do hope that this election will stand as another true test for us as Nigerians as we prepare towards the crucial 2023 General election in the country”. Odumakin concluded.
