
By Ayodele Abere The free Medical Outreach programme organised by a member of the House of Representatives, representing Ekiti Central Constituency 1, Hon. Olusola Fatoba, which began in Ado-Ekiti few weeks ago to complement Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s efforts in health sector has been described as a welcome development.

Speaking with journalists at the venue of the event tagged: “BAO for Better Health”, held at St. Thomas’s School in Irona area of Ado-Ekiti on Thursday, the Coordinator for BAO Anchor Group, Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Dr. Famous Adeyemi, said the essence of the programme is to ensure that Ekiti indigenes have sound health.
The medical expert, who explained that the people that have one illness or the other especially chronic illnesses might not know until they visit the hospital.

“We came to the community to examine the participants to know those that are having alarming diseases and treat those we can treat. Those we can’t treat, we refer them to the hospital to ensure that they get better health. We are doing this for people to be wealthy and be able to vote BAO for second term in office.
Also, A member of EKSUTH BAO for Better Health programme, Mrs. Olufunke Martins-Adetoye, who appreciated Honourable Fatoba for facilitating the programme to ensure that his constituents are in good health, equally commended Governor Oyebanji for his great achievements in health sector. She called on the people of the State in general to give him maximum support for his second term saying that’s the only way to pay him back.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Messrs Femi Oluwabi, Boboye Akinrinmade, Mrs Oluyemi Olarewaju, and Madam Aluko Bolanle Oluwabukola Ilugbusi, said the programme afforded everybody in the area an opportunity to get themselves examined by the medical personnel on ground, especially those that couldn’t afford the cost of visiting the hospital or buying drugs.

“This is free for all without paying a dime. It’s a very good programme. We were tested and given free medication”. The beneficiaries affirmed.
They all prayed for Hon. Sola Fatoba and the State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji saying that their health will never fail them, and that God will move them from their current positions to higher grounds.

As part of their Corporate Social Responsibilities to the people, First Aid Boxes stocked with drugs were donated to both the Primary and Secondary section of St.Thomas’s Shool, Irona area of Ado-Ekiti, where the programme took place.
The beneficiaries who turned out in their numbers for the programme are the people of the area including pupils, students and staff of St. Thomas’s School, Ado-Ekiti, as it is meant for children and adults of all ages.
The programme is expected to continue at Igbemo-Ekiti in Irepodun/Ifelodun local government area of the State at a date yet to be announced.
