The National Opposition Coalition Group has formally unveiled the All Democratic Alliance (ADA) as its new political platform, appointing Chief Akin A. Ricketts as interim National Chairman and Abdullahi Musa Elayo as interim National Secretary.
The decision followed a strategic meeting held in Abuja and chaired by former Senate President, Senator David Mark, where the coalition resolved to transform the group into a fully registered political party with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
An extract from the meeting, made available to journalists, confirmed that a 15-man committee had been inaugurated to oversee the formation of the new party. The committee, known as the New Platform Committee, is chaired by former Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, while Dr. Umar Ardo was named Secretary.
The committee has been tasked with several responsibilities, including securing a national secretariat for the party and opening a functional bank account to meet INEC’s requirements for political party registration.
The coalition also ratified the name, logo, motto, and constitution of the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), signalling serious intent to compete as a viable opposition force in the 2027 general elections.
The platform is being positioned to tap into growing public discontent and shifting political alliances, with its backers aiming to challenge the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Key political heavyweights are throwing their weight behind ADA, including Rotimi Amaechi and Dr. Umar Ardo, a former adviser to President Olusegun Obasanjo and convener of the League of Northern Democrats.
According to the coalition, the party is being built on principles of inclusion, justice, and a desire to offer Nigerians an alternative political direction. The ADA is expected to intensify its mobilisation efforts in the coming months as the 2027 elections draw closer.
