EKSU VC, Ayodele Advocates Sustainability  Concepts In Educational Curriculum

The Vice Chancellor, Ekiti State University, Ado – Ekiti, Professor Babatola Ayodele, has advocated the integration of sustainability concepts into Nigeria’s educational curriculum.

Professor Ayodele, a Professor of Educational Management, gave the suggestion while delivering a keynote address at the 2nd International conference of the Faculty of Education, Federal University, Oye – Ekiti, held at the institution’s Fasina Conference Centre.

According to the don, “education systems must not only prepare students for future employment, but also equip them with the knowledge, skills and competencies needed to address global challenges such as climate change, resource depletion and social inequality”.

He stated further that “transforming education for a sustainable future requires a holistic approach that includes inclusive policies, educational reforms and innovative technologies”.

Professor Ayodele noted that traditional models of education which focus on memorization and standardized testing are no longer sufficient to prepare students for the challenges of the future, hence, inclusive education must address the socio-economic barriers that prevent many students from accessing quality education, such as poverty, discrimination and lack of adequate learning materials.

The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye – Ekiti, Professor Abayomi Fasina, who was represented by his Deputy, Professor Shittu, stated that the theme of the conference was critical to addressing the diverse challenges facing the educational sector at the present moment.
