Ramadan: NSCIA Urges Muslims to Look Out for Moon on Friday February 28

In a statement issued on Thursday by the NSCIA Secretary General, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, the council advised the Muslim community to await the official announcement on the commencement of the 1446 AH Ramadan fast.

According to the statement, if the crescent is sighted after sunset on February 28, the fast will begin on Saturday, March 1. Otherwise, it will commence on Sunday, March 2.

Muslims were encouraged to report credible moon sightings to the council’s Moon Sighting Committee.

Oloyede also urged well-off Muslims to support the less privileged, given the current economic hardship, and warned traders against hoarding or inflating food prices during Ramadan.
