Senator Natasha Alleges Denial of Privileges by Senate Leadership

Speaking on Brekete Family, a Human Rights Radio and Television programme in Abuja on Friday, she claimed that since her first clash with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, she has faced restrictions, including exclusion from international engagements.

Her remarks follow a heated exchange during Thursday’s Senate plenary after she refused to use a reassigned seat, sparking a rowdy session in the chamber.

“I have been going through a lot and remained quiet because I didn’t want any misinterpretation or lawsuits. I just want to be allowed to work. Many of my privileges have been denied, and I have been pulled out of international activities,” she stated.

She further alleged that her nomination for a United Nations event was withdrawn, preventing her from representing the country internationally.

“Since last year’s nightclub incident, I have been self-sponsoring all my international engagements because my name was struck out from events,” she added.

During the plenary, Akpoti-Uduaghan invoked Order 10—an order of privilege—while challenging the Senate President’s decision, insisting she was not out of order.
