NNPC Debunks Claims of Inferior Petrol Compared to Dangote Refinery in Viral Video

In a statement on Saturday, NNPC’s Chief Communications Officer, Mr. Olufemi Soneye, described the claims as false, misleading, and lacking credibility.

The video showed a man conducting a “comparison test” between petrol allegedly purchased from NNPC and Dangote outlets, claiming that the Dangote product lasted 30 minutes longer. However, Soneye refuted the assertion, stating that it was based on unverified and amateur research without professional oversight.

“NNPC Ltd reaffirms that its fuel is carefully formulated to ensure optimal efficiency, durability, and environmental sustainability. Additionally, a significant percentage of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) sold at NNPC retail stations in Lagos—where this deceptive video originated—is sourced from Dangote Refinery, a strategic partner in local production and energy security,” he explained.

He described the video as a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and tarnish NNPC’s reputation, warning that the company would take legal action against individuals or groups spreading false information.

Soneye urged Nigerians to disregard such misleading content and rely on verified sources for accurate information, reaffirming NNPC’s commitment to ensuring fuel availability, affordability, and quality while maintaining global industry standards.
