Foundation Marks First Anniversary, Trains 485 Unemployed Ekiti Youths In Job Readiness Skills

By Olasubomi Olateju

The training, supported by Enshet Heights Global Ltd, Hon Tunji Amondi Foundation and Thinksville Consults, had participants from all the 16 local government areas in the state.

Speaking with journalists in Ado-Ekiti, the Convener of the Foundation, Mike Folorunso Owoseni, said the training was part of the activities of the group to celebrate their one year anniversary and train unemployed Ekiti youths on ‘proper and industry-demand package of Curriculum Vitae and interview tips’ for them to be employable, and to be gainfully employed.

Owoseni said the foundation in its discovery detected that many employable youths are not employed as a result of lack of professionally packaged Curriculum Vitae, which further necessitated the training.

He exuded confidence that after three months of the training, 60% of the participants would be gainfully employed as the foundation would also help in forwarding the CVs to prospective employers.

His words, “We started this in January 5th, 2024. As a way of giving back and celebrate our one year anniversary, today we are organising a free training for all the unemployed graduate youths in Ekiti state, either you are HND, BSE holders on proper and industry-demand package of CV and interview tips.

“We discovered that many of our youths don’t know how to do the modern CV which is causing them to be unemployed; to take it further, we will ensure that we help them to send those CVs to some prospective employers and job sites so that they can be positioned to be employed.

“Our target is that within the next three months after this training, we want to ensure that at least 60 percent of the 485 participants today would have been gainfully empowered”.

On his part, the Senior Special Adviser to Governor Biodun Oyebanji on Investment and Commerce, Hon Olatunji Amondi hailed the foundation for facilitating such initiative, saying such training will take Ekiti youths out of doldrums and make them employable individuals.

“This programme is a programme that will take Ekiti Youths to next level. What actually differentiate us from Lagos youths is the packaging and the way we present ourselves.

“All human beings are the same, regardless of our educational background but the only thing that separates us is how we present ourselves, how we package ourselves and if this foundation can help us sort this problem, then 60% of unemployment issue will be fundamentally done”.

Also, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Development, Olu-Ajayi Maxwell Olusegun urged the participants to develop themselves by improving the local content of the state and make themselves valuable.

A facilitator, Dr Olubola Adeleye urged the youths to grab the opportunity by doing things the right way and apply the knowledge gained in the training in their further endeavours.
