President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially launched the 2024 Christian pilgrimage to Israel and Jordan, urging participants to use the spiritual journey to strengthen their faith and pray for the nation’s progress.
The ceremony took place on Sunday at Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, marking the commencement of the airlift of pilgrims. The event was disclosed in a statement by Celestine Toruka, Deputy Director and Head of Media and Public Relations, and shared via the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) official X handle on Monday.
Presidential Message
Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of the pilgrimage, which is themed “Pilgrimage of Renewed Hope for Total Restoration.” He noted that the theme aligns with his administration’s vision and agenda for national transformation.
Tinubu also cautioned pilgrims against absconding while in the Holy Land, stressing that there is no better place than Nigeria. “See this pilgrimage as an opportunity to deepen your faith in God and to pray for Lagos State, Nigeria, and your families,” he said.
NCPC’s Commitment
The Executive Secretary of the NCPC, Bishop Stephen Adegbite, addressed the pilgrims, stating that the 2024 pilgrimage exercise marked his first since assuming office in February 2024. Despite challenges, Adegbite reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to ensuring a smooth and impactful pilgrimage in line.
